Creative Direction

Crafting elevated imagery for luxury cosmetics

Whether on set or in a 3D environment, the goal is the same — to create imagery that communicates luxury and a premium aesthetic in the cosmetic industry. Both disciplines start in the same place: a considered creative direction built before a single shot is taken or render is made.

The Shared Starting Point:

How every project begins — photography and 3D alike

PHASES 01 – 02 · COMMON TO BOTH DISCIPLINES

From Inspiration to Stakeholder Sign-Off

01 - Inspiration & mood boarding

Creative inspiration is gathered and organized in Milanote — grouped by theme, layout, and angle. Notes capture specific lighting conditions, set details, and props needed to achieve a reference look, building into a structured shot list.

02 - Stakeholder presentation & feedback

Creative direction is presented to marketing and relevant stakeholders before any shoot or 3D work begins. Feedback is incorporated and direction is locked prior to production — keeping revisions upstream, not downstream.

Photography

03 - Budget, casting & pre-production

A budget proposal is created and submitted to management. Once approved, supplies and props are sourced, models are cast, and a photographer and MUA are booked.

04 - Shoot, edit & approvals

Images are shot with models and processed with the photographer or by the internal design team. A round of creative corrections and approvals follows before images are distributed company-wide.

3D Modeling

03 - Digital twin creation

Physical products are mailed to OMI's NYC studio, where their team creates a photorealistic digital twin of the product — a precise 3D replica added to the OMI platform.

04 - 3D environment, camera & render

Within OMI, custom 3D environments ("sets") are built around the product. Camera angle, lighting, and depth of field are adjusted to achieve a photorealistic result — with the added flexibility of unlimited angles and edits post-shoot.

Creative Direction — Photography

On-set direction, casting, styling & post

Every shoot begins long before the photographer arrives — with a mood board that defines the visual language, and a shot list specific enough to execute efficiently on set. The work spans campaign imagery, product photography, and lifestyle shoots for City Beauty, all developed with the same goal: imagery that feels premium, considered, and immediately recognizable as the brand.

3D Modeling

Digital twins, custom environments & photorealistic renders

Working within OMI, physical products become precise digital twins — created by OMI's NYC-based modeling team from the actual product. Once in the platform, those twins can be placed in fully customizable 3D environments, with camera, lighting, and depth of field all adjustable. The result is photorealistic imagery with the flexibility to iterate on angles and set design in a way that a traditional shoot can't offer.

Unlimited angles

Camera position and angle can be adjusted after the fact — no re-booking a shoot to get a different perspective.

Custom 3D environments

Customizable digital sets can be built and adjusted digitally around the product — props, surfaces, lighting, and depth of field all fully controllable.

Photorealistic output

Digital twins built from the actual product, rendered with production-level fidelity for use across packaging, retail, and campaign.
